Parameter Description
name The physical quantity's name.
width To specify the template's width (defaults to 20.5em).
background To specify the template's background colo/ur (defaults to {{Infobox}}'s default).
image To include an image (use standard wikicode, i.e. [[File: .... ]]).
caption To include a caption under the image.
symbols The symbol or symbols used to indicate the quantity in e.g. formulae.
baseunits
(basequantities)
The quantity expressed in SI base units.
dimension The quantity's physical dimension (as used in dimensional analysis).

V grški mitologiji je bil Orion (/əˈrən/; starogrško: Ὠρίων ali Ὠαρίων; Latinsko : Orion)[1] velikan in lovec, ki ga je Zevs (ali morda Artemida) postavil na nebo kot ozvezdje Oriona.

Stari viri pripovedujejo več različnih zgodb o Orionovem življenju. Pripovedi govorijo o dveh glavnih verzijah njegovega rojstva in različnih zgodbah o njegovi smrti. Nekatere od najpomembnejših dogodkov v njegovem življenju so: rojstvo v Beociji, obisk otoka Hios, kjer je srečal Merope in jo posilil, nato slepitev s strani njenega očeta, ovrnitev vida na otoku Lemnos povrnil vid, lov z boginjo Artemido na Kreti, smrt, bodisi zaradi Artemidine puščice ali pika velikega škorpijona, ki je postal ozvezdje Škorpijon, in njegovo povzdignjenje med zvezde.[2] Mnogi stari viri ne omenjajo vseh teh dogodkov, nekateri pa se osredotočajo le na eno zgodbo. Te zgodbe so morda sprva obstajale samostojno in ni jasno, ali so razlike v pripovedih zaradi želje po krajšem pripovedovanju ali zaradi resničnih nesoglasij.

V grških mitih se Orion prvič pojavi kot veliki lovec v Homerjevi Odiseji, kjer ga Odisej sreča kot senco v podzemlju. Čeprav zbiratelji mitov iz helenističnega in rimskega obdobja omenjajo osnovne dele Orionove zgodbe, ni ohranjene celovite literarne obravnave njegovih dogodivščin, kot so na primer pripovedi o Jazonu v Apolonijevi Argonavtiki ali Evripidovi Medeji. Vendar pa so ohranjeni drobci zgodb o Orionu spodbudili raziskovanje in domneve o grški prazgodovini in mitih.

Orion je imel več vlog v starogrški kulturi. Najbolj znana je njegova vloga lovca, čeprav o njem ni veliko podatkov; je tudi poosebitev istoimenskega ozvezdja. V enem izmed mitov je navedeno, da je Orion odgovoren za današnjo obliko Sicilske ožine.
