Predloga se uporablja na številnih straneh, zato bo vsaka njena sprememba takoj zelo opazna. Prosimo, da vse spremembe, ki jih želite uvesti, pred uvedbo preizkusite na podstraneh predloge (/peskovnik in /testniprimeri) ali na svojih lastnih podstraneh. Pred spreminjanjem te predloge se o želenih spremembah rajši pogovorite na pogovorni strani.

Uporaba

Predlogo vključite v članek takoj na začetku, pred prvim stavkom vsebine. Na ta način se bo izpisala na desni strani besedila, poravnano s prvim stavkom.

Vsi spodnji parametri so neobvezni. Predloga samodejno izpiše ime, ki je enako naslovu članka. Ime je potrebno vnesti samo, če je zaradi razločevanja naslov članka razširjen (npr. Walter Steffens (telovadec)).

event	The event(s) or discipline(s) within the sport that the subject specializes in, wikilinked to suitable article(s). Use {{ubl}} or {{PL}} to format multiple entries, and list the events alphabetically, chronologically or by depth of participation, as best suits the article{{ubl|[[Breaststroke]]|[[Freestyle swimming|Freestyle]]}}. This parameter should be removed when not useful, as in the case of the footballer example given in |occupation= and |sport=, above.
universityteam collegeteam	The team (squad) that the subject plays or played on at his or her university or college in the US sense. Note: you cannot use both of these parameters at once. Use {{ubl}} or {{PL}} to format multiple entries, and use common sense explanatory notes if needed, e.g., to distinguish between multiple sports or disciplines.
league	The name of the sport league(s), federation(s) or other sanctioning system(s) under which the sportsperson plays/played. It is not necessary to add this parameter if the sport in question has only one such notable organization. For play under/membership in a regional (e.g., continental) federation, it may be useful to name that body and the parent organization, e.g., [[European Pocket Billiard Federation]] ([[World Pool-Billiard Association|WPA]]).
league_type	Change the "League" heading to another word, such as "Federation", "Association", etc., to match the terminology used in the sport.

Kako Wikipodatki zbirajo podatke

Podatki v Wikipodatke vnašajo uporabniki in boti. Nekateri boti podatke pridobijo iz Wikipedijinih infopolj, kategorij in člankov. Vsak članek (»item« v terminologiji Wikipodatkov) ima ustrezno stran v Wikipodatkih, kjer se nahajajo podatki. Nekateri boti dodajo »imported from _ Wikipedia« kot obvestilo o izvoru informacije. Ko se podatki prenašajo iz Wikipedije v Wikidata se le-ti ne spremenijo. Pri razvoju baze Wikipodatkov pomagajo izkušenejši Wikipedisti iz različnih projektov.

Delovanje

V določenih infopoljih se že uporabljajo podatki iz Wikipodatkov. Za katere podatke gre so na voljo informacije v samem infopolju. Podatki se zajemajo iz Wikipodatkov le v primeru, ko določeni parameter nima že vnesene lokalne vrednosti.

• Če je v članku na vrhu vključeno prazno infopolje brez kakršnih koli parametrov, se bodo vsi podatki napolnili iz Wikipodatkov.
• Če ima članek v Wikipodatkih vpisane tudi rojstne podatke in podatke o smrti, zato se le-ti pojavijo v infopolju. Tukaj se izvede tudi avtomatska kategorizacija v kategoriji Rojeni leta xxxx in Umrli leta yyyy. Članek se pojavi tudi v vzdrževalni kategoriji Kategorija:Članki z redefiniranimi elementi iz Wikipodatkov, ker je v Wikipodatkih na voljo tudi slika, infopolje pa uporablja lastno sliko.

Zatorej, vedno imajo prednost lokalni podatki, ki so vneseni v parametre infopolj.

Kako vnesti podatke v Wikipodatke

Vsak članek (objekt) ima na levi strani v menuju Orodja -> Objekt Wikipodatki možnost urejanja lastnih Wikipodatkov. Točno kako je tam treba izpolniti podatke si je najbolje ogledati kar na primeru Urška Žolnir v Wikidata.

Mikroformat

Koda HTML, ki jo producira ta predloga, vključuje mikroformat hCard, ki omogoča računalnikom, da razčlenijo subjektove podatke. Ta proces je bodisi samodejen, za katalogiziranje člankov v Wikipediji, bodisi na ročno zahtevo bralca s pomočjo orodja v brskalniku, ki na primer doda osebo v adresar.
