===Brief Resume===
Marjan Tomšič was born in 1939 at Rače near Maribor where he attended primary school. After having finished high-school in Maribor, he studied Slovenian at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. He started his career as Slovenian language teacher at Grahovo near Cerknica. Then he moved to Istria and was teaching in primary schools Marezige and Gračišče. For several years he worked as a journalist (for Radio Koper-Capodistria, the weekly Primorske novice, and the national daily paper 'Delo'). Since 1986 he works as a full-time writer.
So far, he published nine novels, seven collections of novelettes and short stories, and seven works for the young and the elderly; fairy tales and stories from childhood. 19 of his radio dramas, humoresques and satires were performed. He wrote 12 theatre pieces. Based on his 19 screenplays, the director Koni Steinbacher filmed 19 short cartoons (mostly at Viba film).
