Friends of the Earth je bila ustanovljena v Združenih Državah leta 1969. Njen ustanovitelj je bil [[David Brower]] po tem, ko je zaključil sodelovanje z [[Sierra Club]], ki se je upirala izzivom gradnje nuklearnih objektov.
